Venky, a cheerful village farmer, has raised his nephew since the boy's parents died, against the warnings of his grandfather, an astrologer who believes the two are destined to bring each other harm. Uncle and nephew are inseparable, and the first half is full of village comedy and the pair's attempts to fix each other's love lives. Then the nephew leaves for the army and disappears on a mission in Kashmir, and Venky sets out to bring him home, a journey that puts the old prophecy to the test. Venky Mama is notable for pairing Venkatesh with Naga Chaitanya, who are uncle and nephew in real life too, and it was produced by Venkatesh's brother D. Suresh Babu. It was a commercial success.
