Ravi has grown up idolising Devaraj, a police officer famous for taking on gangsters, and dreams of joining the force himself. He comes to Chennai for college, drives an auto-rickshaw to support himself and falls for Suseela along the way. When he crosses Chella, the spoilt son of the dreaded don Vedanayagam, he discovers that his hero Devaraj was broken by the same gang. Ravi decides to finish what Devaraj started, becoming a hunter of the hunters. Vettaikaaran ("the hunter") is a classic Vijay crowd-pleaser of the late 2000s, packed with punch dialogues, Vijay Antony's dance numbers and set-piece fights, and was produced by AVM, one of the oldest studios in Indian cinema. Anushka Shetty plays the female lead.
