Gopi is a petty crook who lives by his wits. A young woman, played by Bhavna Pani, sets out to win back the man she was supposed to marry, and through a chain of accidents the two become travelling companions, with a valuable piece of jewellery passing in and out of their hands. Before long they are chased by a crowd of policemen, crooks and family members, and Priyadarshan stages it all as one of his trademark escalating comedies of errors, ending in a chaotic climax of mistaken identities. Vettam ("the hunt") draws loosely on the Hollywood romantic comedy French Kiss and gave Dileep one of his popular comic roles of the 2000s, with Innocent and Jagathy Sreekumar in strong support.
