Vivasaayi Magan (1997)

Vivasaayi Magan ("the farmer's son") is a 1997 Tamil village drama directed by Ramarajan, who also plays the lead, in the rural, song-filled style that made him a star in the late 1980s. Devayani plays the heroine, veteran K. R. Vijaya plays his mother, and Vadivelu handles the comedy. As the title suggests, the film celebrates the farmer and village life, setting its hero against those who would exploit the land and the people who work it, with family sentiment and folk-flavoured songs.
