The hero is a petty con man in trouble with dangerous people when he learns he has inherited a large old mansion in the hills from a father he never knew. He decides to turn it into a guest house and brings in his girlfriend, a friend and the old caretaker's family to run it. The first guests start dying in strange ways, and the new hoteliers frantically hide the bodies while discovering that the house is home to a vengeful ghost with her own story. Yaamirukka Bayamey (a phrase meaning "why fear when I am here") was a surprise hit and helped spark the Tamil horror-comedy boom of the mid-2010s, with Karunakaran's comic timing a highlight. It marked the debut of director Deekay.
