Yamagola Malli Modalayindi ("Yamagola begins again") takes its title and spirit from the 1977 NTR fantasy Yamagola, in which a mortal turned the kingdom of Yama, god of death, upside down. This version brings Srikanth and Venu Thottempudi into a story that moves between earth and Yamaloka, the realm of the dead, mixing slapstick, satire of earthly corruption and mythological characters played for laughs, with Meera Jasmine as the heroine. Director Srinivasa Reddy specialises in comedy, and the film follows the Telugu tradition of Yama-themed fantasy entertainers such as Yamaleela and Yamadonga.
