Paramvir lives a settled life in Canada with his mother, wife and children, but he has never forgotten the father and younger brother who went back to India years earlier. Following a lead to Banaras, he finds them: Dharam and Gajodhar, who make their living conning tourists and pilgrims. Not ready to reveal who he is, Paramvir stays close to them, and soon all three are off to Punjab, where Gajodhar has fallen for a girl whose fierce brothers want nothing to do with him. Yamla Pagla Deewana was the first film to bring together Dharmendra and his sons Sunny and Bobby Deol in a full-blown comedy, and it borrows its title from a famous Dharmendra song in Pratiggya (1975), which it re-uses. A big hit, it led to two sequels, in 2013 and 2018.
