Yeh Aag Kab Bujhegi (1991)

Yeh Aag Kab Bujhegi ("When will this fire be put out?") is a social drama directed by Sunil Dutt, who also plays the lead, with Rekha and Sheeba. It takes on dowry and the dowry deaths that were making headlines in India at the time, following a family whose daughter's marriage turns into a nightmare of demands and cruelty, and a father's fight against a system that treats brides as bargaining chips. Like Dutt's other films as director, it is earnest and openly campaigning.
