Yeh Raat Phir Na Aayegi (1966)

A young archaeologist working on the excavation of an ancient site becomes fascinated by a mysterious woman who appears to be connected to the ruins and to a love story from centuries ago. As the dig progresses, strange events surround the team, and the question of whether she is a living woman, a spirit or someone reborn becomes the heart of the mystery. Yeh Raat Phir Na Aayegi ("this night will not come again") belongs to the cycle of atmospheric reincarnation and suspense romances that were popular in 1960s Hindi cinema, with Biswajit, who specialised in such films, and Sharmila Tagore early in her Hindi career. Prithviraj Kapoor plays a senior archaeologist. O. P. Nayyar's songs are the film's lasting treasure, especially Asha Bhosle's "Yahi Woh Jagah Hai" and Mohammed Rafi's "Phir Miloge Kabhi".
