Anirudh has spent years in a mental institution and comes out into the world with a childlike honesty and goodness that the people around him do not know what to do with. He falls in with Ranjan, a hardened man of the streets, and becomes entangled in the lives of two very different women, while greedy relatives and opportunists circle a fortune that may be his. His simple decency exposes the hypocrisy of the society around him. Loosely inspired by Dostoevsky's The Idiot, Yugpurush gives Nana Patekar one of his softest and most unusual roles, opposite Jackie Shroff and Manisha Koirala, and was directed by Partho Ghosh, known for 100 Days and Agni Sakshi.
