ACP Vijay Khanna is an honest, short-tempered officer who has been transferred from post to post for refusing to bend. In Mumbai he takes on Teja, a powerful oil-mafia boss whose fuel-adulteration racket reaches deep into the system. A young woman, Mala, who witnesses a murder becomes key to the case; Sher Khan, a Pathan with his own code, becomes an unexpected ally. This remake of the 1973 Amitabh Bachchan film that created the "angry young man" was Telugu star Ram Charan's Hindi debut and was made simultaneously in Telugu as Thoofan. Sanjay Dutt takes on Pran's famous Sher Khan role, and Prakash Raj plays the villain.
