Playing now

Read from the recording's own description, by a program — so it is a reading rather than a record.

Description

A recording by Franklyn Baur, the American tenor who was for a few years at the end of the 1920s the most recorded popular singer in the United States. He was the lead voice of the Victor Salon Orchestra, the first singer on radio's Voice of Firestone, and the vocalist on dance-band sides for Roger Wolfe Kahn, Nat Shilkret and Paul Whiteman. He left recording around 1930, and is now almost entirely forgotten — the voice is everywhere on records of the period and the name is nowhere. The song is "Calling". Recorded in 1927. With Roger Wolfe Kahn Orchestra.
