Phool Bane Angaray (1991)

Namrata's happy marriage to a brave police inspector ends when he is killed by a powerful gang protected by politicians. Shattered, and refusing to accept that the guilty will walk free, she trains to become a police officer herself and returns to wage war on the men responsible, one by one. Phool Bane Angaray (Flowers Turned to Embers) is one of the films that made Rekha a symbol of the avenging woman in early-1990s Hindi cinema, after Khoon Bhari Maang. Rajinikanth appears as her husband in one of his Hindi roles of the period, and producer-director K. C. Bokadia had worked with him on several films. The film was a commercial success.
