Nehle Pe Dehla (1976)

Nehle Pe Dehla is a 1970s crime caper in which wit counts for as much as muscle. Sunil Dutt and Vinod Khanna play men on opposite sides of a game of tricks and counter-tricks, with Saira Banu as the female lead; the title is a card-game idiom for trumping an opponent's move. Raj Khosla, the director of Woh Kaun Thi and Mera Gaon Mera Desh, keeps the tone light, mixing comedy, romance and fist-fights in the multi-star manner of the decade. R. D. Burman's music adds to the period flavour. It is a lesser-known entry in the careers of its two male stars, but an easy watch for fans of mid-70s masala.
