Bhagat Dhanna Jatt (1974)

Bhagat Dhanna Jatt tells the legend of Dhanna, a simple, unlettered Jat farmer whose innocent devotion is so pure that God comes to him in person, eating the food he offers and working beside him in the fields. Dhanna Bhagat is one of the saints whose verses are included in the Guru Granth Sahib, and his story is a much-loved tale of faith over ritual. The 1974 Punjabi film was directed by the wrestler-actor Dara Singh, who also starred in it, years before he became famous across India as Hanuman in the television Ramayan.
