Biwi Aur Makan (1966)

A group of young unemployed friends find the perfect place to live in Bombay, but the landlord will only rent to married men. Their solution is to pass two of them off as married couples, with one friend dressing up as a wife, and the disguise soon gets complicated when romance enters the picture with the landlord's household. Biwi Aur Makan ("a wife and a house") is a light comedy of the kind Hrishikesh Mukherjee did so well, gentle and full of character, with Mehmood's comic energy to the fore and music by Hemant Kumar.
