Badri is arrogant, charming and devoted to having a good time. A clash of egos with a man named Nanda, played by Prakash Raj, leads to a challenge in which love becomes a matter of pride, and Badri's life gets complicated as two women, Vennela and Sarayu, come into it. Badri was the first film directed by Puri Jagannadh, who went on to become one of the most influential Telugu filmmakers, and it was a major hit for Pawan Kalyan, whose punchy dialogue "Nuvvu Nanda aithe, nenu Badri" became famous. It marked the Telugu debut of Ameesha Patel and the screen debut of Renu Desai. Ramana Gogula's songs were very popular. It was remade in Hindi as Shart: The Challenge (2004).
