An attack in Malaysia carries the signature of Love, a criminal mastermind who was believed dead, and the Indian intelligence agency recalls Akhilan, the agent who once hunted him and lost his wife in the process. Akhilan and a young officer, Ayushi, follow the trail to Kuala Lumpur, where Love has developed a drug that gives users superhuman strength for minutes at a time. Vikram plays both hero and villain, and his gender-fluid, theatrical Love is the film's standout creation, lisping and dancing his way through mayhem. Iru Mugan ("two faces") was directed by Anand Shankar of Arima Nambi, with Harris Jayaraj's songs and slick action, and was a commercial success.
