Anniyan (2005)

Ambi is a meek consumer-rights lawyer in Chennai who cannot bear the small dishonesties everyone else accepts: careless officials, unsafe food, people who break rules without a thought. Nobody listens to him, not even Nandini, the neighbour he loves. Pushed by frustration and a buried trauma, his mind splits, producing Remo, a flamboyant model who wins Nandini over, and Anniyan, a terrifying avenger who punishes offenders with tortures drawn from the Garuda Purana. Police officer Prabhakar sets out to catch the mysterious killer. Anniyan was one of the most expensive Indian films of its time and a huge hit, with Vikram's switches between the three personalities becoming iconic. Harris Jayaraj's songs were chart-toppers, and the Hindi dub Aparichit became enormously popular.
