Aashiq (1962)

Aashiq is an early-1960s romantic drama in which Raj Kapoor plays a free-spirited artist and singer, a carefree wanderer in the mould of his popular screen persona, whose life becomes entangled with two women played by Padmini and Nanda. The film explores love, duty and sacrifice in the gentle register that director Hrishikesh Mukherjee would later perfect in Anand and Chupke Chupke. Its main legacy is the Shankar–Jaikishan soundtrack, especially Tum Jo Hamare Meet Na Hote and Mehtab Tera Chehra, sung by Mukesh, Raj Kapoor's screen voice.
