Agar... If (1977)

Agar... If is a 1977 Hindi crime thriller directed by Esmayeel Shroff, who went on to make films such as Thodisi Bewafaii and Bulundi. It casts Amol Palekar, best known for his gentle middle-class comedies of the period, alongside Zarina Wahab, his popular co-star from Chitchor and Gharaonda, with Kader Khan in support. Here the familiar Palekar persona is placed inside a story of suspicion and crime rather than romance, which makes it an unusual entry in his filmography. It is worth a look for fans of the actor and of the modest, realistic Hindi films of the late 1970s.
