Anjali loves Dev, a poor young man, but her wealthy family will not hear of it and marries her to Ram, a gentle, patient businessman. At first she resents him; slowly his decency wins her heart. Years later Dev comes back as a self-made millionaire who has never stopped believing Anjali belongs to him, and his love curdles into a dangerous obsession that threatens her marriage. Dhadkan was in production for years before its 2000 release and became a big hit. Suniel Shetty won the Filmfare Award for Best Villain for his intense Dev, and the Nadeem-Shravan soundtrack, with Tum Dil Ki Dhadkan Mein and Dil Ne Yeh Kaha Hai Dil Se, was one of the best-selling albums of the year.
