Zaroorat (1972)

Zaroorat ("need") is a 1972 Hindi drama directed by B. R. Ishara, a film-maker known for low-budget, bold films that took on taboo subjects such as premarital relationships and women's sexuality, which were rarely discussed in mainstream cinema of the time. Reena Roy, who went on to become a major star in the late 1970s, appears in one of her earliest roles, with Vijay Arora and Danny Denzongpa, also at the start of his career. The film reflects Ishara's interest in candid stories about urban youth.
