Numair arrives in Old Delhi claiming to be a victim of riots, but he is really a trained militant with orders to carry out an attack on Independence Day. To blend in he befriends Rajan Mathur, a gentle Urdu professor and poet who lives among the crowded lanes of Chandni Chowk with his wife Roma, an activist. As the Mathurs open their home to him and the life of the old city draws him in, Numair's mission and his growing doubts pull in opposite directions while the clock runs down. Black & White was a change of pace for showman Subhash Ghai, a smaller, issue-driven film about terrorism and coexistence. It was shot extensively in the lanes of Old Delhi, and singer Sukhwinder Singh composed its music.
