Raj Heera runs a hopeless detective agency and calls himself Baadshah. He is hired for what looks like an easy job, but the clients turn out to be part of a deadly conspiracy: they want him to kill the chief minister, and to make sure he obeys they hold a little girl hostage. Racing against the clock, Raj must find a way to save the child without becoming a killer, while clowning his way through disguises and comic set pieces. Baadshah mixes comedy, romance and thriller in typical Abbas-Mustan style, with Shah Rukh Khan in a broad comic role. The countdown plot was inspired by the Hollywood thriller Nick of Time, and the Anu Malik title song was a hit.
