Bhagwan Dada is the feared but kindly don of a Bombay slum. When he takes in a little orphan boy, Govinda, his life gains a purpose, and the bond between the gruff strongman and the child becomes the heart of the film. Their happiness is threatened by powerful men with designs on the slum and by secrets about the boy's past. Rajinikanth headlines this Hindi film, one of several he made in the 1980s, alongside Sridevi, Rakesh Roshan and Tina Munim. It was produced and directed by J. Om Prakash, grandfather of Hrithik Roshan, who appears as the young Govinda, years before his own stardom. Rajesh Roshan composed the music.
