Balu is a happy-go-lucky student at a residential college in a small town, and Swapna is the bright, spirited girl he cannot stop thinking about. Their first love is innocent and all-consuming, but it collides with exams, a strict father, a mother's hopes and the confusions of being seventeen, and the two have to learn what responsibility means. The title means "a golden new world", and the film captures the wonder and recklessness of adolescence. It was the directorial debut of Srikanth Addala, produced by Dil Raju, and a major hit; Mickey J. Meyer's songs, including Nijanga Nenena, became hugely popular. Prakash Raj and Jayasudha play Balu's parents.
