Power Cut (2012)

Jaspal Bhatti made his name with the television satires Flop Show and Ulta Pulta, poking fun at bureaucracy and the absurdities of daily life. Power Cut, which he directed and starred in with his son Jasraj, takes on one of the most familiar complaints in Punjab and across India: the constant failure of electricity, and the officials, politicians and fixers who profit from it. Like his television work, it is gentle on the surface and sharp underneath. Bhatti died in a road accident in October 2012 while travelling to promote the film, which made it his last work; Jasraj was injured in the same crash.
