Power Cut (2012)

Power Cut turns a familiar daily frustration, the long and unpredictable power cuts in Punjab, into a satire on officials, politicians and the ordinary people caught in between. Jaspal Bhatti, famous for his television shows Flop Show and Ulta Pulta, directed and starred, with his son Jasraj Bhatti in a major role, and the film is full of the absurd situations and sly social commentary that made his name. It is also remembered for a tragedy: Bhatti died in a road accident in Punjab in October 2012 while travelling to promote the film, just before its release, which made it his final work.
