Kavya, the spoilt heiress of a large company, goes on holiday to the Andaman Islands and, after a reckless night, accidentally injures a mute tribal man. To avoid trouble she takes him back to Chennai with her, and the man from the forest, who knows nothing of cities, money or traffic, begins to discover a world utterly alien to him. Slowly a bond grows between the two, but there are people who want his people's land and are willing to kill for it. Vanamagan (Son of the Forest) gave Jayam Ravi an almost dialogue-free role built on physical performance, and it was the screen debut of Sayyeshaa. Harris Jayaraj composed the music, his landmark 50th film, and the jungle and island settings give it a fresh look.
