Description

A film-maker leaves his wife for an actress, and the film follows the wife as she works out whether she wants him back or wants nothing. Mahesh Bhatt wrote it out of his own affair, and the ending - where she refuses the offer to return - is why it still gets argued about. Jagjit Singh's ghazals carry it.

The songs

Jhuki Jhuki Si Nazar Beqaraar Hai Ki Nahin
Tum Itana Jo Muskura Rahe Ho, Kya Gam Hai Jisako Chhupa Rahe Ho
Tere Khushboo Mein Base Khat Main Jalata Kaise
Koi Ye Kaise Bataa Ye Ke Vo Tanhaa Kyon Hain
Tu Nahin To Zindagi Main Aur Kya Rah Jaayegaa
