Akash Sinha runs a charitable hospital founded by his father, Dr. Siddharth Sinha, a renowned surgeon, and dreams of building it into a world-class institution. He is in love with Neha, a colleague. When the hospital runs out of money, the wealthy Sonia offers to fund it, but she is impulsive, possessive and used to getting what she wants, and what she wants is Akash. Armaan was the directorial debut of screenwriter Honey Irani, with Amitabh Bachchan in a short, memorable role as the father. Preity Zinta was widely praised for playing against type as the troubled Sonia, and the Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy music adds to the gloss.
