A young man who loves practical jokes plays an elaborate prank on April Fool's Day, but his game sets off a chain of misunderstandings that draws him into the path of a beautiful heiress and a gang of criminals who take his joke far more seriously than he intended. Subodh Mukherji, the director of Junglee, made April Fool as a light, glossy romantic comedy for the young pair of Biswajeet and Saira Banu. Its biggest asset is the Shankar-Jaikishan score, and the title song, sung by Mohammed Rafi, is still played every first of April across India.
