Description

Grahasti, "household", is a 1963 Hindi family drama directed by actor-filmmaker Kishore Sahu. Ashok Kumar plays the head of a respectable family, with Nirupa Roy as his wife, and Manoj Kumar and Rajshree as the young couple at the centre of the story. When a secret from the past emerges and casts doubt on a son's parentage, the bonds of the family and the marriage are put under heavy strain. The film was a success in its day, and Ravi's songs added to its appeal. It is a gentle, well-acted domestic drama of the early 1960s.
