Diya is a warm, idealistic young woman who believes love comes first and everything else follows. Arjun is a cheerful cynic who thinks love is for fools and runs from commitment. When their paths cross, they argue, tease and become close friends, and both refuse to admit what everyone else can see. Much of the story unfolds at a home for children run by Raj Chauhan, a gentle father-figure played by Amitabh Bachchan, who watches the two of them with amusement and quietly helps them along. The film was Samir Karnik's directing debut and is a light, glossy romance with Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy songs. Vivek Oberoi and Aishwarya Rai were rumoured to be a real-life couple at the time, which drew extra attention to it.
