What we found
We corrected this This film cannot be found on Wikidata by its own title. The entity exists - Q7525891 - but "Sir" is an English word the search index ranks eight other things above, so a title lookup returns an honorific prefix, Conan Doyle and Charlie Chaplin, and no film. Wikidata, reached through the credited people rather than the title — Q7525891, found via Q6933426 and Q4818780
How we knowCORRECTED on 2026-10-17. This finding first said that Wikidata held no entity for the film at all. That was wrong, and the way it was wrong is the point: a search of the entity index for "Sir" returns Q209690 (the honorific prefix), the French company register, Joseph Dalton Hooker, Joshua Reynolds, Arthur Conan Doyle, Winston Churchill, James Edward Smith and Charlie Chaplin - no film - and I read an empty title search as an empty record. The entity is Q7525891, "Sir" (1993), with nine sitelinks, and it surfaced an hour later from a direction I was not searching: it appears in the filmographies of Mukesh Bhatt, whom this print names as producer, and of Atul Agnihotri, whom it introduces. A film whose title is a common word is reachable through its people and not through its name. Separately, the row arrived with no credits at all, and these were read off the print's own roll, sampled every two seconds: VISHESH FILMS presenting, Naseeruddin Shah billed above the title, MUKESH BHATT'S, "Introducing ATUL AGNIHOTRI", "And GULSHAN GROVER", "Audiography UDAY INAMATI", "Stunt Director RAVI DEWAN", "Written By JAY DIXIT", "Produced By MUKESH BHATT", and at roughly 200 seconds "Directed By MAHESH BHATT".
