Read about it: Wikipedia
Wikipedia's article on Patthar Aur Payal has an empty writer field and credits nobody with the script. It was written by Rahi Masoom Raza - the novelist of Aadha Gaon, who later wrote the screenplay of B. R. Chopra's Mahabharat. He is one of the most consequential writers Hindi cinema had, and the article does not mention him.
How we know
indiancine.ma's record for the film credits him as writer. Wikipedia's infobox carries 'writer =' with nothing after it, and its prose names only the director, producer and cast. He has eleven other films in this catalogue, among them Mili, Karz, Nikaah and Disco Dancer.
