Description

A long feud between the Godha Seth and Vishwaraj families ends in an uneasy truce, sealed by arranged betrothals. Godha Seth's daughter Pooja falls for Arjun, a village youth studying in the city, and they elope. When word comes that Arjun is dead, his brother Vishal, a peace-loving farmer from Uttar Pradesh, comes to Bombay to find out what happened, is badly wounded in a sword fight and is nursed back to health by Jhumri, a small-time thief protected by a contract killer. Then Vishal declares war on the gangsters behind his brother's fate. Vinod Khanna is Vishal, with Madhuri Dixit, Govinda, Aditya Pancholi, Sumeet Saigal, Shaheen, Amjad Khan, Gulshan Grover and Shakti Kapoor around him. Mukul Anand directed, credited here as "Anand S. Mukul", for Nitin Manmohan's Neha Arts - the team that had made Insaaf with Vinod Khanna in 1987. It was Shaheen's debut, and the songs are Anand-Milind's, who were brought in after Laxmikant-Pyarelal, the original composers, were replaced. Its best-remembered number is 'Dhak Dhak Dil Dhadke', sung by Alisha Chinai with a few lines by Aditya Pancholi himself. Two years later Madhuri Dixit would become the "dhak dhak girl" in Beta, a different song by the same composers.

What we found
Moviebuff's trivia says Kiran Kumar was replaced in Maha-Sangram by Shakti Kapoor, but the cast lists credit him as Vishwaraj.
How we knowCinemaazi and other cast lists give Kiran Kumar as Vishwaraj and Shakti Kapoor is also credited in the cast. Nothing consulted settles whether a replacement was planned and then reversed, so the credit is kept as it is on the cast lists.
