What we found: This print's certificate, 91108, is dated 16 July 1979, and Kaala Patthar's, 90462, is dated 9 August 1979. A lower number should not carry the later date. Both were read from the films themselves, so one is misread and we have not established which.
How we know
Both numbers were enlarged four times before being transcribed. This card's ten-year expiry, 15 July 1989, is internally consistent with its issue date. The Bombay U series runs in order across the other 32 certificates held, which is what makes the pair irreconcilable rather than merely odd.
