Rocky Mera Naam (1973)

Sanjeev Kumar plays two men who look exactly alike: Kamal, a kind-hearted man, and Rocky, a fearless henchman who works for a gangster. Rocky tries to take over Kamal's identity. Satram Rohra produced and directed it, and Naqsh Lyallpuri wrote the songs for the composers Sapan-Jagmohan, with Mohammed Rafi singing the two best-remembered numbers, 'Dil Kabhi Tumne Diya Tha' and 'So Ja Sanam'. Nivedita plays the heroine, Reeta; Bipin Gupta, Rajan Haksar, Mumtaz Begum and A. K. Hangal are among the supporting cast, and David, the Bene Israel actor of genial uncle roles, is in it as David. It has an odd history. The film's music records came out in 1968 under the title Tere Milne Ke Baad, and the film itself reached cinemas on 6 July 1973, about five years later, under the name it now carries. Its opening music borrows Bobby Darin's theme from the Hollywood film Come September, a tune that came back in 'Nazrein Mili Dil Dhadka' (Raja, 1995) and 'Dole Dole Dil Dole' (Baazi, 1995).
