Description

A romance with action in it, directed by Harmesh Malhotra for Citizen Pictures and produced by Salim. Raj Babbar and Poonam Dhillon lead, with Shakti Kapoor and Bharat Kapoor, Asrani, and a newcomer billed as introducing HUMA as Raj Babbar's sister. It was picturised at Bombay, at Delhi - India Gate and the Connaught Place colonnades are in it - and in the valleys of Kashmir. The dialogue is the find. It is by Dr. Rahi Masoom Reza, who wrote Aadha Gaon, one of the Urdu novels of the century, and who would go on to write the dialogue for B. R. Chopra's Mahabharat - the words a generation of Indian television heard on Sunday mornings. He also wrote Mili, Gol Maal, Karz and Lamhe. No listing of this film carries his name; the print does. The music is by Annu Malik, as the card spells him. The certificate is dated 21 November 1981, which makes Anu Malik twenty-one years old on this picture. Hasrat Jaipuri, Anjaan and Dayanath Pandey wrote the lyrics, and the playback is Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar, Asha Bhosle, Suman Kalyanpur and Shailendra Singh, on H.M.V. A modern NH Studioz logo has been spliced on ahead of the Board's card.

What we found
The print confirms Anu Malik as the composer - spelling him "Annu Malik" - which puts him on a 1981 feature at twenty-one. the print's own credit roll, against Wikidata — the MUSIC card, sampled at 2s
How we knowWikidata's Q11014731 claims P86 (composer) = Anu Malik (Q612167), and a statement a WORK makes about a person is the weaker kind - the entity's own claims are what can be trusted, a work's have to be checked. Here the check is in the film: a card in the credit roll reads MUSIC ANNU MALIK, two frames after LYRICS HASRAT JAIPURI / ANJAAN / DAYANATH PANDEY. The spelling with the double N is the print's and is recorded as an alternate rather than corrected. Anu Malik was born in 1960, so the certificate's date of 21 November 1981 puts him at twenty-one on this film.
The dialogue is by Dr. Rahi Masoom Reza, the novelist of Aadha Gaon who wrote the Mahabharat television series - a credit in no listing of this film. the print's own credit roll — sampled at 2s, 60-180s
How we knowWikidata's Q11014731 carries four statements: Harmesh Malhotra directing, Poonam Dhillon and Asrani in the cast, Anu Malik composing. The print's own roll carries a card reading DIALOGUE Dr. RAHI MASOOM REZA. He is the Urdu novelist of Aadha Gaon and the dialogue writer of B. R. Chopra's Mahabharat, as well as of Mili, Gol Maal, Karz and Lamhe. The same roll adds Raj Babbar, Shakti Kapoor and Bharat Kapoor to the cast, INTRODUCING HUMA as Raj Babbar's sister, and a supporting list - Narendra Nath, Dina Pathak, Poornima, Abhi Bhattacharya, Kalpana Iyer - with WRITTEN BY RAVI KAPOOR and MOHAN KAUL, cinematography V. DURGA PRASAD, editor GOVIND DALWADI, art director BABU RAO PODDAR, re-recording MANGESH DESAI at Rajkamal Kalamandir, and PRODUCED BY SALIM under the banner A FILM FROM CITIZEN PICTURES.
