Description

Raj Kumar is a struggling painter in the city, so honest that people call him a fool. When he returns a lost wallet to its owner, the rich businessman Ramnath is so impressed that he gives him a job. Raj falls in love with Aarti, not knowing she is Ramnath's niece, and finds a motherly friend in his gruff landlady Mrs. D'Sa. But when a tragedy strikes linked to Ramnath's business, Raj's faith in honesty is put on trial. Hrishikesh Mukherjee's gentle film became a classic of 1950s Hindi cinema. Raj Kapoor won the Filmfare award for Best Actor, and Shankar–Jaikishan's songs, including "Sab Kuchh Seekha Humne" and "Kisi Ki Muskurahaton Pe Ho Nisar", won the Filmfare award for Best Music.
